The Buddy Program is here to help international students settle into life in Prague, discover the city, and feel part of the local student community from the very start.
Studying abroad at VŠE is an exciting experience, but arriving in a new country can be overwhelming at first. Having someone local who can guide you through those first steps makes everything easier. Need tips about dorms, transport, the university, or everyday life? Want someone to explore the city with when you get here? Or simply hoping to meet new people?
That’s exactly what the Buddy Program is for.
After signing up, you’ll be matched with a local student—your buddy—based on your study field, preferences, and interests. They can help you even before you pack your bags, answer practical questions, and welcome you once you arrive in Prague.
During the semester, your buddy can show you around the city, recommend their favourite spots, help you navigate Czech culture, and introduce you to student life at VŠE.
We hope you’ll have a great time together and that your buddy experience will lead to new friendships, unforgettable memories, and a deeper understanding of each other’s cultures.
The first thing you can look forward to when joining us at VŠE is Orientation Week (OW)—the perfect kickoff to your Erasmus stay!
Taking place one week before the semester starts, OW gives you a taste of what to expect throughout your time here. On the first day, we host a presentation covering all the essential information, along with fun events and parties you can look forward to. You will also get practical tips for daily life, public transport, and student discounts.
The week includes our Ice-Breaking Weekend (IBW) and other networking events to help you meet fellow students, as well as city and campus tours so you can quickly get familiar with Prague and VŠE. By the end of OW, you will feel completely ready to start your Erasmus journey!
